Prom Dress – Hair and Jewelry to go with it?
I just bought my prom dress and it’s kind of old fashioned. It’s cream colored with gold/lace in the bodice. It’s strapless and the bodice is tight. Then it’s got a wide bottom with tulle on the outside. And it’s long but it doesn’t touch the ground, it’s about 5-6 inches from the ground.
I want my hair and jewelry to match so they have to be an old fashioned style and I have no idea what to do for either. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate them. Pictures/websites would also help. Thanks.

Pearls. Please wear pearls! I love them…
- Pearl necklace (antique, if you can, or cheap from ebay)
- Pearl drop earrings or studs (if you wear them)
Hair: I’d say a swirly up-do – perhaps a simple bun or chignon. Nothing too complicated. Buy some ribbon, feather or fake flowers and create a little accent to put at the top on the side. Something girly and feminine.
And may I just say that I absolutely adore your prom dress. It sounds amazing. Good choice!

Filigree type dangling earrings if you have shoulder length or longer hair. If you have short hair then a nice pearl earring or a cameo would be pretty . A cameo choker type necklace to match too or pearls depending on which you choose..
The dress sounds pretty. Have fun.

You may wind up at the library.. Look for fashion history books and see if there is anything you could either copy at the copy machine to show your hair dresser or possibly even draw to a piece of paper for something unique..
With a strapless dress you might even want to pull all your hair back into a "chignon" …it’s a bun at the base of your head…a french twist would work too…
With a strapless dress it would be a completely "chic" look.
As for the jewelery…see if you have an antique mall in your town or close to another town….they have the "old" jewelery from days gone by….and they won’t be expensive.
Your eye shadow should be in the browns/gold….maybe even just a smiggen of glitter at the outer corner of the eye.
Your going to look smashing darlin,,,,have a great time.

I prefer updos with strapless dresses because it elongates you and makes you look more poised. Gold jewelry is your best option since you have gold in your dress. Dangling, earrings will look very stylish.

Wear your hair up and curled with a few pieces hanging down without giving yourself the beehive look.
then i would use natural light makeup. I would also go with pearly necklace and earrings. also a fench manicure wouldnt hurt!!

I made custom jewelry to go with both of my nieces’ prom dresses. You can see some at my website (Stelle Sheen/Quiet Beauty Jewelry) – contact me if you are interested in earrings or a necklace made just for you. I think a pair of long gold, delicate earrings would be gorgeous.
For the hair, I personally love updos with tendrils hanging around the face.
